OK, today I am in a somber mood as I am getting ready for a week of work. Can Christmas really only be just 2 more weeks away?

Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming, as men of old have sung.
It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.

Isaiah ’twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind;
Mary we behold it, the Virgin Mother kind.
To show God’s love aright, she bore to us a Savior,

The shepherds heard the story proclaimed by angels bright,
How Christ, the Lord of glory was born on earth this night.
To Bethlehem they sped and in the manger they found Him,

Well, it is the second Sunday of Advent and today in church we sang this hymn in church. Last week’s hymn was an instrumental version. Today it looks like it will be a double feature.

This second version is beautiful arrangement. Good gracious! I love the voice of the cello!

I got a stomach bug this week so, I am a little late getting this started. Anyway, I wanted to share the songs of the season that are special to me, all month long.

Day 1

Indulge me, if you are my age, this is quintessential Christmas time fare. I mean, c’mon, Charlie Brown Christmas! When I was a kid, it wasn’t about the music but, now, this song just oozes nostalgia, and who doesn’t love that smooth jazz of the Vince Guaraldi Trio? From the second Jerry Granelli (that’s the drummer) begins his brush strokes on the snare drum, I’m all in.
