Todays post is perhaps one of my favorite songs of Christmas in the last 10 years since we left Memphis for Richmond. I first heard this song at Independent Presbyterian Church in 2001 at their Christmas program.
An arrangement of Good Christian Men Rejoice, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The First Nowell, Old Breton Melody/Come ye lofty, come ye lowly.
I literally weep every single time I hear this song. I hope I make you weep too. If you aren’t bawling by the 5 minute mark or certainly by the 6:30 mark as all of the strands interlace and crash over your soul, I dunno, maybe you are dead inside. Or may be it’s the last verse of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”
Good Christian men, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice
Now ye need not fear the grave:
Peace! Peace!
Jesus Christ was born to save
Calls you one and calls you all
To gain His everlasting hall
Christ was born to save
Christ was born to save
Christ was born to save, and He chose to save me, maybe that’s why I cry. Maybe.
